The Gate of the New World (?)

Because of a mobile game trailer that I couldn't understand, I embarked on a terrifying journey of the soul...

I asked Guā, "Where did Líng Hú Chōng come from in the fanfiction of Dōng Fāng Bù Bài?" Guā asked me in return, "Haven't I seen 'The Smiling, Proud Wanderer: Dōng Fāng Bù Bài'?"

Of course, I've seen it, but it was so long ago and I was too young. I only remember that in the old Hong Kong films, there were a group of beautiful girls who loved each other and kissed each other (I now think it's quite amazing that this is the only thing I remember). I don't remember anything else. (Sigh)

So I rewatched "The Smiling, Proud Wanderer: Dōng Fāng Bù Bài" and "Dōng Fāng Bù Bài: Fēng Yún Zài Qǐ". And then I was shocked. It was truly terrifying.

--Although I think this is already a universal memory(?), I'll still give a warning for spoilers below--

Actually, I remember a lot of scenes, like Dōng Fāng Bù Bài, Shī Shī, and Xuě Qiān Xún. (I told you I remembered a bunch of girls rolling and pressing each other. [Sigh]) I also remember the cliff scene, but I have no memory of anyone or anything other than the three mentioned above. (Sigh)

The impact was so great that I don't know where to start talking about it. It's somewhat similar to when I thought "Worldly Love" was just a typical rural drama, but it turned out to have a shocking lesbian storyline and went several levels higher. (Sigh)

The imagination was mind-blowing. The themes of gender, desire, love, and human nature scared me. The most terrifying thing was the depth of the plot in "Fēng Yún Zài Qǐ". Of course, Lín Qīng Xiá's beauty is so mesmerizing that it's not good for the heart.

In conclusion, I was in a constant state of shock. (Sigh)

Although I really want to explain everything, I also don't want to explain everything. I think my situation is quite bad. The more it touches the soul, the less I want to talk about it, and the more I grow up, the more it becomes like this. To say that these two works "touch the soul" may be an exaggeration, but they definitely "stir the soul". I was amazed. XD

There are too many things worth discussing. The complex relationships and emotional states between the characters. Here, I must add that I think Líng Hú Chōng in this story is a scumbag. For some reason, most of the characters played by Jet Li make me think they are bad guys or scumbags. "Fēng Yún Zài Qǐ" has even deeper underlying themes. Famous figures, following trends, foolish masses, blind obedience, populism, authority, Milgram, mob violence, ultimate beliefs, existentialism, greed, anger, ignorance, arrogance, doubt, and more. Every line and every scene is filled with so many metaphors that I don't have time to close my gaping mouth. For example, it says "Believe in the false, don't believe in the true," it says "Wearing it, I am Dōng Fāng Bù Bài," it says "What kind of person am I, I also want to know the answer." The theme song also captures this meaning, titled "Be the real me." (This is the Cantonese version, the Chinese version is called "Laughing in the Red Dust." I can't find out which version came first, but the premiere was in Hong Kong. Based on the lyrics and Lín Qīng Xiá's mouth movements, I think it should be the Cantonese version. Although the imagery of the Chinese version's lyrics also fits and I think it's written better, I believe the spirit of "Be the real me" is closer to the essence of the drama.) I really like it. It's a very realistic world. It's a fundamental concern for the existence of human beings. (Yes, I've decided not to explain in detail. [Sigh])

And then Lín Qīng Xiá's aura is too strong, and the truly beautiful scenes are too breathtaking to comprehend. The passionate scenes between Dōng Fāng Bù Bài and Xuě Qiān Xún, and Dōng Fāng Bù Bài's expressions and movements are so beautiful that I pounded the chair and almost resurrected. At the beginning of "Fēng Yún Zài Qǐ," when Dōng Fāng Bù Bài stands on the edge of the cliff, I suddenly felt, oh my, this is my Lú Xī Fēi. So I realized that the sentence from "Fallen Angel" used to describe it is so accurate: "Neither male nor female, but both. Neither good nor evil, but both." I loved this sentence when I was young, and now I suddenly realize that it is the best reason to explain Kūn Shēng's charm. The beauty of the saint, the beauty of Kūn Shēng, the beauty of Lín Qīng Xiá's Dōng Fāng Bù Bài, is primarily because they "do not belong to the binary gender of male or female." Kūn Shēng cannot become a man or return to being a woman, and can only exist in that transgender, genderless state, which is truly breathtaking. At the same time, the non-good non-evil, both good and evil traits of the characters are truly fascinating. For example, Qīng Gē's cold and stern character is also not purely good.

Speaking of which, although these two Dōng Fāng Bù Bài characters shaped by Lín Qīng Xiá are indeed charming, I still prefer Mèng Lì Jūn. Dōng Fāng Bù Bài is crazy, but not crazy enough. But if it's purely crazy, it might be too much. The occasional display of human emotions is both attractive and diminishes the attraction. Mèng Lì Jūn, on the other hand, has the confidence, pride, and cold ruthlessness from beginning to end, and her indifference is not physical violence, which is perfect for me. So I think Mèng Lì Jūn is happy, while Dōng Fāng Bù Bài is not. And after all, I hope everyone is happy. Or rather, Dōng Fāng Bù Bài will still be confused, obsessed, and lonely, which makes him come down from the divine pedestal and become an ordinary person, but what is truly admirable is still someone like Mèng Lì Jūn, who is independent and extraordinary.

And I must say, once again, I realize that Scorpios truly live up to the saying "can start a fire with wood and look at a chair with deep affection." Dōng Fāng Bù Bài's "the world's winds and clouds come from people like us" is clearly referring to Scorpios. Beautiful and moving, with outstanding temperament. They always have a kind of expression that only they can do, like Lín Qīng Xiá furrowing her brows, that non-angry slight furrow is very beautiful, it's a natural beauty that would be terrifying if Dōng Xī Ruò imitated it. Qīng Gē is the same. In conclusion, I am completely helpless against Scorpios. (?)
