Master Slafa's masterpiece

Went to see "It's Snowing".
"Five years later1, "It's Snowing" (laughs).
I was so confused when I saw the DM~ XD
Although it's not as terrifying as "Constellation Myth" Part 22 that seemed to crawl out from deep underground (←violence~), I was still puzzled for a moment~ XDD
"Why is there still a DM for this now?" That's probably how I felt. XD

Well, because I watched it five years ago and I really liked it, so I wanted to see it again.
I want to see if there are any changes in the "It's Snowing" five years later, and I want to experience that magical scene again3.

Also, because I watched it five years ago, I bought the cheaper tickets. XD (Well, I'm poor. = =)
Originally, I wanted to buy rear seats on the first floor... because there's a chance to play with the ball... (laughs) But when I bought the tickets, I forgot to confirm, and I ended up sitting on the third floor~~/= 口 =\
I thought since they were the same price, the view shouldn't be too different~= =b After all, exchanging tickets is too troublesome. orz

The view turned out to be pretty good. XD
Although it feels a bit far from the stage and the angle is a bit high, I can actually see it very clearly.

There weren't many changes in "It's Snowing". It's just like how I remembered it five years ago.
Although there are some differences because "It's Snowing" is a play with improvisational effects, overall it's not much different from what I remembered.
It's like watching the same video from five years ago again.
It feels strange and amazing at the same time.

And I still don't understand it. XDDD
After watching it five years ago, this is how I understood it:
I thought of "Beast Country", a picture book that I really liked. A little boy's fantasy or adventure. The room turns into a jungle, and so on.
The scene in "It's Snowing" where the bed turns into a boat and the room turns into an ocean is very similar to the little boy in the picture book, and even to my own imagination.
So that's mainly how I tried to understand it, a person's inner world, a fantasy space, the Island of Never.
But now, I don't know why I feel sentimental.
Maybe it's because I'm starting to lean towards being an adult. (gazes into the distance) From the beginning to the end, I always feel a faint melancholy, as if it's a sad and desolate world that is inevitable in the adult world.
The countless children in the audience screaming and laughing, maybe what children see is the most real? Is this story really just pure play and laughter, allowing children to happily frolic in a world of dreams, just like I once understood?

I don't really know. Maybe theater really reflects the audience's inner world, just like writing. The reader, the audience, what they read and see is actually their own selves in that moment.
The swirling snow, the dazzling light behind, the stunning music, that's a scene I really really really like. I almost cried this time.

The final ball bubbles, the dream bubbles, watching the excited crowd playing with them, I feel so fleeting sitting still in my seat.
Looking at the clowns on stage, standing or sitting still, I think about how five years ago, I occasionally pushed the ball and curiously looked at myself on stage, and it seemed much simpler.

I can't help but think of something I occasionally say, I think of how we always have to grow up, I think of how we can never find Neverland and Narnia.
It must be because I don't know when I started to be outside, I'm already very far away from the world of Narnia, Neverland, and Beast Country.
Even though I want to tell the father who says "The ground is made of paper" that it's called "snow", but I've quietly been pushed out. Some part of me must have already been gently sent away by Aslan.
(I want to make sure that the other parts of myself can continue to play with the gods of Olympus.)4

Footnotes#

  1. Strictly speaking, I'm not really sure when I first watched this play, I was still too young back then. I just checked the time when this play came to Taiwan and compared it to my age at that time, and I felt it should match.

  2. "Aries" series manga by Rurika Fuyuki, the first part consists of 20 volumes, it's an important work in my life. The second part is separated from the first part by nearly 15 years.

  3. Nine years later, when this work came to Taiwan again, I went to De Tang to see it again on August 19, 2017. If it comes again, I will still go to see it.

  4. When I watched it for the third time in 2017, I only wrote this sentence: "Believe in the power of people, believe in the power of the universe."
