"If Sound Has Memory" - Celebrating Serendipity

I never expected that this drama would be so sincere and moving. I, who have always found it difficult to express emotions, have actually started to think that if a drama can make people shed tears repeatedly, then it might be good, because that is a sign of touching the soul.

While this drama may have some contradictions in terms of prop arrangement, costume design, editing, and proofreading, the issues are not significant. With a clear exploration of its intended meaning, its flaws are overshadowed. It gives me a feeling very close to Japanese dramas, I mean in terms of storytelling: covered in a layer of romanticism, full of passion, turning danger into safety. Coincidentally, I am always drawn to such gentle warmth, even if it is somewhat exaggerated, I am willing to believe in and praise the various aspects of love together.

It can be said that this is a deep love letter to the field of dubbing as a whole work. Focusing entirely on this core, it narrates the process of talent development and the challenges and values encountered, not only through dramatic reenactments but also with "Easter eggs" of actual interviews with practitioners, showing a clear purpose of promotion, which is admirable. My own interests do not touch on this area, but the actions and emotions of giving one's all for what one loves, are they not relatable?

It is not just about interests and expertise. Framed around a specific theme, every stroke drawn within it, is it not still a trace dragged out after being soaked in the diverse inks of life? Its title is well chosen, tightly linking the "dubbing" it wants to highlight with "life," making its inner and outer meanings emerge together. It wants to talk about sound, but what it really talks about, or what sound truly contains, is memory, that is, emotion—sound has meaning in expressing emotions.

Therefore, choosing to handle the relationship between sound and memory in a straightforward and possibly sentimental way, I think it is just right.

One could say, isn't life just like this? Those laughter, anger, sorrow, and cries, can't we all hear our own voices in them? One particular passage resonated with me: "The most hurtful thing in this world is nothing but the four words 'powerless.' Being powerless, helpless, is truly a sad thing. And in this world, many times we are indeed powerless. Wanting to do something, but unable to, yet unwilling to accept it, that is the most tormenting."

Just from the introduction, this is a drama that I would rarely choose to watch, purely because I think Zhenming's younger brother is not bad and wanted to see his work—I think this is the true meaning of an encounter. Due to some coincidence, a chance encounter, recognizing the beauty.

The voice of the battlefield has become a memory deeply rooted in my heart, all stemming from an accidental collision. But fate is always something that can be encountered but not sought after, the voice that is being promoted, without fate, is also difficult to hear. So it must be cherished, precisely because of the helplessness of the world.
